Olive Oil Tasting

And now for something completely different

The Olive oil tasting event was something really new.

Hosted by Jim and Dale Egan and guided by Darlene Homolka and Jodi Dickstein its was a fun and casual evening that evened the playing field between those new to enjoying wine and those with far more experience.

The event was divided into three flights of three olive oils source from a great little spot on Queen West called The Olive Pit (they’re below The Spice Trader – here’s the link)

The olive oils came from France, Spain, Corsica, Italy, Sicilly, Greece, Turkey, Tunisia, California, and New Zealand. In addition to having a taste wheel in order to make notes we all tried to guess where each oil was from. The overall preference, with herbal grassy notes, was a surprise – Tunisia! Very nice indeed!
