What a better way to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Canada’s Confederation than to have great wine, food and camaraderie in the lovely home of members of the Oakville Chapter?
On June 7, the weather forecast was a 100% chance of fabulous Canadian wine (from Ontario of course) and delicious food. The garden bloomed with colourful rhododendrons and beautiful flowers. Members and guests wore red and white as a tribute to our Maple Leaf flag. The British Columbia smoked salmon was enjoyed with Tawse Spark Brut sparkling wine, followed by cold asparagus soup paired with a 2012 Featherstone 4 Feathers white blend (Riesling dominated). A beautiful 2014 13th Street Winery Gamay Noir accompanied Alberta beef tenderloin, Ontario chicken and crudités. An assortment of fabulous Canadian cheeses were paired with a 2010 Kacaba Cabernet Franc Reserve, followed by Ontario strawberries and cream with House Wine Co. Vidal Moscato VQA.
This very enjoyable gathering once more confirmed that the best wines and food are even more enjoyed with friends.
