IWFS Summer BBQ: A Portuguese Feast with Old World Wines

On a beautiful summer evening we enjoyed exceptional gastronomy and some surprising Portuguese wines on the East Deck at the home of Stephen and Claire. We dined al fresco at a grand, the long table designed for 30 guests, enjoying a relaxed, buffet-style service that captures the true essence of European hospitality.

To Begin: Appetizers & Sparkling Our evening began with a beautiful spread of assorted cheeses, olives, and savory chorizos. Alongside the charcuterie, was traditional cod fish and shrimp croquettes.

The Soup Course
A comforting bowl of traditional Portuguese shrimp soup, served with perfectly seasoned, crunchy croutons.

The Wine: 2024 Viognier Domaine Clos des Lumières Le Petit Mazet (France)

The Main Our dinner featured classic, flame-kissed Portuguese chicken, served alongside traditional savory rice and a fresh roasted potatoes. The meal is accompanied by rustic, crusty sourdough bread.

The Sweet
No Portuguese feast is complete without the iconic, blistered, custard-filled Pastéis de Nata(Portuguese tarts).
