A Good Year – Wine and Movie Night

This year’s movie night moved locations.  Jim and Dale set up a temporary theatre in their living room…. which was pretty darn cosy.

Charcuterie was provided by Farmhouse Cheeses on Kerr street and they did a fabulous job. They put together a board with cheeses really focused on Provence with a french sausage and appropriate garnishes. They provided the board at now cost and worked exactly to our budget; no surprises.

Dale read enough blogs to glean that Provence means Rosé, goat cheese and lavender. The cheeses are being sourced as close to “la Siroque” as possible with the exception of fresh goat cheese because we have such fine goat cheese here in Canada. The varieties are:

  • Bleu d”Auvergne
  • Tomme de Savoie
  • St. Agur
  • Sainte Nectaire

The wines:

  • Rivarose Brut Prestige Rosé Sparkling – VINTAGES#: 515288
  • Gerard Bertrand Cote des Roses Rosé  –  VINTAGES#: 373985
  • White – Bonpas Luberon Grande Reserve De Challieres –  LCBO#: 31853
  • Red – Tessellae Old Vines Grenache/Syrah/Mourvèdre –  VINTAGES#: 343517

Additionally…. since the movie’s fictional vineyard la Siroque “officially” produced garbage wine – a very simplistic bottle was available to try, suitably poured in plastic cups Pontificis LCBO# 25229 $12.65. It used very similar grape varieties to our Tessellae Old Vines, it was deemed less interesting but perfectly fine for a pizza night.

The cadence of the wines were selected to accompany the plot of the movie, which worked rather well and a good time was had by all
