IWFS Summer BBQ: A Portuguese Feast with Old World Wines

Join us for an unforgettable summer evening of exceptional gastronomy and fine wine companionship as we gather on the East Deck at the home of Stephen and Claire McWilliams. This July, we are crossing the Atlantic in spirit to celebrate the vibrant, sun-drenched flavors of Portugal, perfectly paired with standout European vintages from France and Italy.

Set against the backdrop of a warm July night, we will dine al fresco at a grand, long table designed for 30 guests, enjoying a relaxed, buffet-style service that captures the true essence of European hospitality.

The Menu & Pairings

To Begin: Appetizers & Sparkling Arrivals Our evening commences with a beautiful spread of assorted cheeses, olives, and savory chorizos. Alongside the charcuterie, enjoy crispy, traditional cod fish and shrimp croquettes.

• The Wine: Antech Blanquette de Limoux Cuvée Françoise (France) and a hand-selected seasonal Rosé.

The Soup Course A comforting bowl of traditional Portuguese shrimp soup, served with perfectly seasoned, crunchy croutons.

• The Wine: 2024 Viognier Domaine Clos des Lumières Le Petit Mazet (France)

The Main Event: The BBQ Feast The centerpiece of our dinner features classic, flame-kissed Portuguese chicken, served alongside traditional savory rice and a fresh potato salad. The meal is accompanied by rustic, crusty sourdough bread and premium olive oil.

• The Wine: 2019 Aglianico Di Majo Norante Molise Contado Reserva (Italy)

A Sweet Finale No Portuguese feast is complete without the iconic, blistered, custard-filled Pastéis de Nata(Portuguese tarts).
